Although the installation of pigging valves is becoming increasingly common in Canada, it is important to know that it is essential to purchase a valve with a TSSA certification. Why? Without this certification, the valves can not be used because, simply spoken, TSSA certification is comparable to the Pressure Equipment Directive in Europe.

TSSA-certified pigging valves have passed stringent tests. TSSA certification also means that the manufacturer has met the regulations of the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) and the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA). The tests include quality testing, material testing and leakage resistance testing. These tests ensure that the valve meets the highest safety standards and does everything it promises to do.
